As the nation prepares to celebrate the Royal Wedding on Friday, Islington based cake designer Cynthia Akinsanya, owner of Delights by Cynthia, is busy baking and creating a collection of cakes and cupcakes inspired by the royal nuptials.

Since the Royal Wedding was announced, the phone has not stopped ringing in the Delights Kitchen.  Customers are making enquiries and placing orders for red, white and blue themed cakes and cupcakes.

Cynthia Akinsanya said “This year couples are totally embracing the Cool Britannia theme for their wedding day by including touches of red, white and blue and why shouldn’t they?”

Cynthia has created this four-tier Britannia Royale cake featuring a regal rosette, red, white and blue stripes, bunting and a crown fit for a princess.  All of the decorations are handmade using various types of sugar and of course, Royal Icing.

Not only will Cynthia be busy with Cool Britannia styled wedding cakes this year, she will be making a number of cakes for street parties and private functions on 29 April.

“I have a busy week ahead of me,” said Cynthia. “Once the last order is made and the deliveries are completed, I will put my feet up, watch the Royal Wedding with the family and raise a glass to the happy couple.”
