1. Church Street Hotel, Camberwell

Church Street is not near an airport, though is a short walk to a train station in South London, but in light of all the honeymoon/holiday horrors we hear in the newspapers, it is safe even for the lone traveller. It is an eclectic Cuban/Mexican inspired hotel. Breakfast is organic and always fresh from Borough Market.

2. The Ice Hotel Swedish Lapland

If you are having a winter wedding or delaying your honeymoon, the Ice Hotel reopens again on 3rd December 2011 as version 22.  The Ice Hotel is lovingly constructed from 2 tonnes of  ice and rebuilt every winter, so you are guaranteed to stay in an unique hotel. It is so cold -5C, you have to sleep in a reindeer blanket and lock away your suitcase (or it will freeze solid!) You can even get married in the Ice Church between 23 December and April!

3. Hotel Palacio de Sal (The Palace of Salt)

A hotel made entirely out of 14×14 foot salt blocks in Bolivia. The hotel is based 220 miles south of Bolivia’s capital La Paz, and even has a golf course! Just don’t lick the walls!

4. Underwater (Poseidon Resort Fuji)

Set 40 feet under the sea, Poseidon Resorts in Fiji have 24 suites and 1 apartment facing the ocean and coral beds. 70% of the room is open to the sea so you have the best view of the ocean. You can also feed the fish by remote control!

5. Prison! (Latvian Prison Hotel)

No, we are not talking about burning down your wedding venue, getting into a punch up with your guests or stealing the reception food – though that would get you a one way ticket straight to prison! You can pay to spend a night in the Latvian Prison Hotel and be treated like a real prisoner! If that’s not bad enough, the prison is also said to be haunted!

  2. […] If you want your wedding to be unique then you can’t beat knowing that the church where you exchanged your vows will have melted away by the springtime. This snow-covered landscape gives new meaning to the phrase ‘white wedding’ and is one of the most tranquil and naturally beautiful spots imaginable for a ceremony. The incredible Icehotel, nestled away in remote Swedish Lapland, is constructed from snow and ice from the nearby River Torne in Jukkasjärvi, while the chapel has a clear ice altar, pillars and seating covered in reindeer skin. The bedrooms are incredible too and perfect for a honeymoon with a difference, as these pictures on World Travel List and Bride of Colour show. […]
