Tim Mugabi shares with us a few top tips on losing weight.
Losing weight can be a source of frustration for many women, and that frustration is magnified when it comes to losing weight for your wedding. Between all the work you’ve got to put into planning the day, you’ve got to somehow find the time to do the things necessary to look your best on your big day. And rightly so, without you there would be no big day to plan and you deserve to look your very best.
But losing weight doesn’t have to be stressful or taxing. I’m going to tell you the three things you have to get right in order to look great in your gown:
Your Mindset
Your mind is incredibly powerful and can be your greatest ally in losing weight, or your worst enemy. Make sure your mind is on your side by filling it with the right things. Tell yourself that you can do it and fill yourself with confidence. Instil belief in yourself by looking back over your past successes and reminding yourself of what you’re capable of. And above all remember why you’re trying to lose weight; to look fantastic on a day which you will remember for the rest of your life. Imagining what it will feel like on your wedding day – knowing you did your best to look your best.
Your Diet
The key thing here is that you need to concern yourself with ‘your’ diet and not ‘a’ diet. Don’t rely on a drastic fad diet to get you into that dress; concentrate on making the necessary changes to your diet. Drastic diets will only serve to compromise your health and despite their promises of fast results and minimum effort, will only leave your body worse than when you began.
Instead stick to the basics – eat more of what’s good for you and less of what’s not so good for you. Eat a good breakfast, a healthy lunch and a dinner that’s not too large; trying to limit the fat and sugar in each meal. When you feel the need to snack, put aside the crisps, cakes, sweets and biscuits (yes the biscuits too ) in favour of fresh fruit. Not only will you be eating less sugar, but you’ll taking in more vitamins and minerals. Your body will thank you and reward you with glowing skin, strong nails and lovely hair. You can save the sweet stuff for the occasional well deserved treat.
Exercise
Regular physical activity not only helps you expend energy, but also improves your body in the process. Engage in the right kind of exercise and your body will become toned and firm. The more you’re toned, the more fat you’ll burn naturally, simply because muscle burns fat. So not only are you burning fat when you exercise, you’re also enabling your body to burn more fat in the future; music to the ears of any bride-to-be.
As well as making you look good, regular exercise also helps you to feel good. This is because it releases several hormones that are responsible for making you feel good. These hormones increase your sense of well-being and reduce your stress levels.
Losing weight doesn’t have to be complicated, dangerous or stressful. If you keep these three things in mind, you’ll start to see the difference in no time. You can then concentrate your efforts on making your big day spectacular.
